Incorporate the PTC thermistor in series within the load circuit. During normal operation, the current passing through the PTC thermistor remains below its rated level, keeping the thermistor in a low-resistance state, thereby preserving the circuit’s normal functionality. In case of a circuit malfunction where the current surpasses the rated level (typically twice the normal current), the PTC thermistor rapidly heats up, transitioning to a high-resistance state, effectively “switching off” the circuit to prevent damage. Upon rectifying the fault, the PTC thermistor automatically reverts to a low impedance state, allowing the circuit to resume its normal functioning.
