The UC3842/UC3843/UC3844/UC3845 are fixed-frequency current-mode PWM controllers designed for Off-Line and DC to DC converter applications with minimal external components. They feature a trimmed oscillator for precise duty cycle control, a temperature-compensated reference, high-gain error amplifier, current sensing comparator, and a high-current totem-pole output for driving a Power MOSFET.

Based on Quad Operational Amplifier designs, these dual operational amplifiers offer low power consumption, a wide common mode input voltage range, and compatibility with single or split supply operation. The LM358 series is equivalent to half of an LM324. In single supply applications, they outperform standard operational amplifiers by operating within a voltage range of 3.0V to 32V with one-fifth the quiescent current of the MC1741 per amplifier. Additionally, their common mode input range includes the negative supply, eliminating the need for external biasing components, and their output voltage range includes the negative power supply voltage.
